Why was New Habitat established?
New Habitat was founded by parents and guardians of individuals with acquired brain injury to provide a long-term private progressive residence. The founders envisioned and created a residence that is A Place of Possibilities, Not Limitations. Each resident's interests and skills are developed to their fullest potential with the assistance of active and engaging staff both in the residence and within the community.
How many people live in the Cambridge Residence?
The residence currently has capacity for four persons. Each resident has a private bedroom and private bath. All bedrooms are located on the second floor of the home and there is an elevator between the 1st and 2nd floor.
How long do residents stay at New Habitat?
Each individual's needs would determine how long they might live at New Habitat. Some residents plan to stay on a permanent basis. Others might choose to live at the residence while they further develop skills for complete independent living. The New Habitat staff would assist the resident and the family prepare for whatever their future plans involved.
How are New Habitat's fees paid?
New Habitat operates without public subsidies. Fees can be paid either through a resident's private financial resources or by direct payment from an insurance provider. Applicants paying with private funds are required to provide evidence of adequate financial resources as part of the application process. Daily rates provided by insurance are determined on a case by case basis.
